Karolina Kaim

Karolina joined WME in 2024 after having gathered over eight years of commissioning experience at publishing houses both in the UK and abroad, with training in intellectual property law. She is based in London and works closely with the US office to find the best UK home for both fiction and nonfiction authors.

Hailing from the European side of publishing, she takes a particular interest in connecting the dots between international markets, cultural trends and writing which challenges or informs our worldview. Her areas of focus are psychology, health and wellness, self-development, smart thinking, narrative nonfiction including memoir, as well as commercial fiction.

In nonfiction, she’s on the lookout for dedicated experts and authentic voices who offer a novel lens through which the reader can look at the surrounding reality, whether inspiring or discerning. Some of her highly rated nonfiction reads include THE CREATIVE ACT by Rick Rubin, PRINCIPLES by Ray Dalio, STRONG FEMALE CHARACTER by Fern Brady, ULTRA-PROCESSED PEOPLE by Chris van Tulleken, BARBARIAN DAYS by William Finnegan, THE STORY OF ART WITHOUT MEN by Katy Hessel, THE LOST PIANOS OF SIBERIA by Sophy Roberts and SLOUCHING TOWARDS BETHLEHEM by Joan Didion.

She is also after commercial fiction which combines dynamic plot development with interpersonal, sometimes cross-generational, tension and witty dialogue. Her dream submission marries the multi-character storyline of THE NEST by Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney with the emotional load found in Donna Tartt’s THE SECRET HISTORY or the TV hits THE WHITE LOTUS and SUCCESSION.

She holds a belief that there is nothing new under the sun but the new way of seeing the author brings to the table and offers the reader through their writing, whether in fiction or nonfiction. To her, one of the most appealing things a writer can do is capture and speak to the zeitgeist of a specific generation and point in time.
